Amber Jensen is a proud Oklahoman. She was born in Buffalo, OK. She attended Woodward High School and graduated in 1999. Her husband proudly served 28 years in the United States Army and retired as a First Sergeant. In their military travels, Amber met a lot of people and learned a lot about the world. She enjoyed visiting with servicemembers and civilians in her day to day life.
Since returning to Oklahoma from the military life, she and her husband have opened a small business in Woodward, OK. In the course of that business, she has been invited to hundreds of homes all over Northwest Oklahoma. This gives Amber a unique and intimate view of how people live, what they struggle with, and what things they value. Oklahomans are self-reliant, friendly, and proud people. But some of them just have struggles that no one would expect to be forced to deal with.
Amber is currently a volunteer at Woodward Mid-Day AMBUCS, raising money to help disabled children obtain rehabilitative devices after illness, injury, or other mobility issues.
Amber spent a lot of time around military people. One thing Amber learned in her military wife life was the phrase “Adapt & Overcome”. Amber believes that Oklahomans should not have to “adapt” to underfunded schools and teachers. She believes that Oklahomans should not have to “adapt” to rising health care costs and lack of access to quality health care. She wants to fix the problems facing everyday Oklahomans. Amber wants to properly fund public education and health care, fix our roads and bridges, and balance our state budget. ”Adapt” is a word used for dealing with those things that cannot be changed. These issues can be met head on, and changed.
